Rush

Rush (2013)

Ron Howard

A re-creation of the merciless 1970s rivalry between Formula One rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Ron Howard has never been one to disappoint. The man knows how to tell a story, visually, viscerally and through amazing storytelling. It was bright, loud, hard, fast and epic. You could feel the tension on the race track as these men actively risked their lives, as well as the tension between Nicki and James.

The story of these two men as they fed off of each other through their racing careers is equal parts grossly competitive and fiercely loyal. They couldn’t hate each other because they respected each other too much. Formula 1 filled all the little voids in their lives, and you could feel that with the loss Nicki endured when he was betrayed by the sport he lived for.

The performances in this one, were nothing short of astounding and should receive much attention come to award season. Including Ron Howard, who did a phenomenal job capturing the tone and hard ass feel of the Formula 1 lifestyle.

Don’t miss this one.
